Vedic Metaphysics, Self-governance, and other matters

Bring them in with respect- Cosmic Delusion is Vedic MAYA

Vedic metaphysics is the perennial philosophy that is at the core of all religions – a precious gift for which the West is ever indebted to the East. (Francois Voltaire).

Become part of divine Bureaucracy of the Supreme Reality Brahman and save the Grand wondrous Design of Viswakarma –the only Supreme Reality- Wise men describe THEE with various names.

Dear Seekers of Vedic knowledge,

Subject: MAYA (Cosmic Delusion)

For appreciating the divine concept of Vedic Maya, a few references are given below.

Rig Veda 1-131-1 and 6-47-18 describe the universe as His Creative Art (mayabhi) and for every form He is the Model. All the riches, matter, clouds, Sun and other objects belong to Him. Svetasvatra Upanishad (4 -9 and10) describes Brahma as the Illusion Maker and Prakrti as Maya. Being Shakti energy (cosmic power) of God,Maya hinders the truth to the human senses, which tend to even misrepresent the reality.

According to Mundakya Upanishad 3-2-9, after the illusory effect of Maya vanishes, you become Brahma. "so ye ha vaitatparaman Brahma VedaBrahmaiva Bhavati" (when you start knowing Brahma, you become Brahma.

The human form of Indra Deva is an illusion R.V 6-47-18 says, "Indra Mayabhi"- the illusory Indra. According to Sama Veda 1710, HE shines as supreme Lord in all the worlds as part of his cosmic Lila (Play) described as Maya. He is the first cause of all these worlds visible to senses and beyond.

The effect of Maya in our sense perception of truth is given in Yajur Veda 40-15 to 17 where it says," the face of truth is covered by golden lid." Unless the golden lid of Maya, which forms its veil, is removed, one cannot find the truth of Reality. Maya creates this golden disc and hides the God. It is for this very reason same truth is described and understood differently by different people.

Rig- Veda 7-33-3 also attributes Maya in Prakrti. Bhagavad-Gita has some verses relating to Maya, particularly (7- 4, 5, 13, 14, 25, 27), (4- 9, 10), (3- 27, 39, 40).

Soul (Atma)– the omniscient principle is provided to human beings so that they could get out of the vehement effect of MAYA and their past and present good or bad karma(actions) due to the predominance of their gunas (sattavic, rajasic and tamasic). Those who do not allow the unmoved mover soul to administer their gross bodies, do not follow Rta (cosmic laws) and do not serve the purpose of their human birth, are born again and again as the vehement effect of Maya continues.

It is thus apparent that “Maya” creates attachment to children, matter, money, gold etc. Vedic metaphysics clearly mentions that all material things belong to God and these are given to us for minimum use as need based and not greed based. It is Maya that is the cause of insatiable desire and thus deludes the human beings (B.G.3-39, 40). Thus due to its cosmic illusion we are chained to Destiny.

The knowledge of the doctrine of Maya can save this beautiful divine globe and world of senses.

For bringing the Golden Age or the "Kingdom of Heaven" nearer to the earth, the knowledge of Maya would greatly help. The firm belief in its vehement effect can reverse the present trends based on abject materialism.

Those individuals who understand the effect of Maya all these modern gods, gurus, cults disappear and firm belief in One God and One life becomes dominant. They all find we are part of the same life of formless God who is our supreme Father. We live in Him as cells of His life, which take birth, grow and die and are reborn. It is more like our gross body that has trillions of living cells that are always there but live only for a few hours to a few days and are reborn.

Vedas thus advise that the highest and ideal living is by avoiding illusory smartness i.e. false ego, snobbishness, artificial life of glamour and ostentation. The blind pursuit of money, matter and prestige, power and status are not the requirements of your real extended self (Jivatma) but illusory requirements of your senses that run after even tiny matter.

Our intellectual arguments, empirical knowledge and sense experience have created a strange world of contrasts and confusion, one God to multiplicity of gods, extreme idealism to dreaded materialism. Today we find people have hardly any common views on any subject and this has become cause of conflict between nations, societies, families and even friends.

Vedic Metaphysics tell us it is due to the mystic power (shakti) of the divine Nature described in Vedas as MAYA, it acts as a huge Cosmic Saw. Multiplicity, lust, greed, pride, hatred, jealousy, egoism and self-interest are its sharp teeth. Below and between its teeth are love, cooperation, humility, purity and truth. Those in pursuit of money, matter in any of its form and other mundane activities are very often caught in the teeth of Saw. They first start losing the divine instruments like buddhi (intellect) of their inner world and finally the instruments of their outer world like sense organs and finally their gross bodies as well.

According to Bhagavad-Gita God being merciful and benevolent gives long rope to individuals to develop the divine qualities hidden in them and known to their immortal soul. Otherwise, the individuals being their own greatest enemies grow in wickedness and sink deeper into sin and finally get shameful punishment.

Those individuals who start developing divine qualities known to their immortal extended "self” with selfless service to weaker members of society and resist from aimless pursuit of money and matter, smoothly pass through or below the cosmic Saw of Maya. Such persons tend to merge with Brahma -the formless and ineffable God through right knowledge contained in Vedas. Those who acquire this knowledge and put into practice get beyond the effect of the Saw of Maya.

Since Brahma is beyond this veil of cosmic illusion, the true seekers of Him tear off this veil with para jnan(higher knowledge) and also get beyond the illusory effect of Maya. These individuals come to know that nothing is produced out of nothing. So, God being eternal is Himself the universe and universe is God." A sateh saj jayete kutos" i.e. How can entity be produced out of non-entity?

Maya is a practical philosophy of ending human sufferings. In any society when Knowledge of Maya starts disappearing diversity in thoughts actions increases. Human mind becomes devils workshop, even rudderless, and can lead to spread of atheism, materialism, anti social elements increase. All actions to make world free from pollution and Unity in Diversity become an act of hypocrisy to collect more funds.

HUMAN Nature of believers in Maya is Positive- love, harmony, cooperation … (Plato, Sankracharya etc) and non believers is negative i.e. man is ungrateful, deceitful, cowardly, avaricious and fickle (Hobbes, Machiavelli). Knowledge of Maya leads to Kingdom of Heaven near the earth, Universal brother hood, global family, Ramarajya, One God etc

Incidentally at present we have only got Independence without Freedom. Both are highly different concepts. USSR was Independent without Freedom, finally split into a number of states. Before a similar phenomenon happens in India, we should attain Freedom and Swaraj.

Matter has unsuspected vitality in Vedas

(Know Thy Vedas)

Subject: Vedic Physical Sciences of Matter with unsuspected Vitality and Scientific Temper

The following observations of eminent/great scientists would appear as if Vedas are being retold.

J.C. Bose found with the help of gross instruments in the laboratory some kind of "fatigue" in metal just like human beings. Gross atoms even in an inanimate thing are born, develop and lose vitality and die. They have mind of their own.

Einstein confirmed in the laboratory the Flux observed earlier by Vedic rsi of yore Kanad and later by Buddha. According to Einstein most of the particles in the sub atomic world live for short period of a small fraction of a nano of a second and change to other particles, while some of those behaving like waves and wavicles. This Flux in atoms is a continuous process. Einstein also made certain metaphysical observations like God does not play dice and in all probabilities God has kept some "hidden variable" responsible for this activity.

Isaac Newton in spite of his so many discoveries relating to light, gravitation, laws of motion, certain mathematical laws etc,  was still having a feeling that some thing was missing in his discoveries. He wrote in the Optick " … does it not appear that there is a supreme Being, incorporeal, living, intelligent, omnipresent who in infinite space sees the things themselves intimately and thoroughly, perceives them and comprehends them wholly by their immediate presence to Himself."

Even now many scientists have a feeling that there is some thing beyond sub-atomic particles in the atoms that make these tiny invisible balls to move at a great speed.

The Vedas combine science with metaphysics and clearly mention that it is God who is the giver of knowledge of all sciences as "Sahstra sam " (R.V. 1-10-11). The scientists are advised to study cause and effect of all material elements and also how the objects are produced and there after utilize these properly (R.V. 5-47-3). By following these guidelines they can alleviate much suffering of the people (R.V. 5-77-4). Without the knowledge and practical application of physical sciences, it is not possible to eradicate poverty and attain prosperity (R.V. 1-34-1 to 5).

In the Rig-Veda the focal point is the human being and the knowledge about physical sciences contained there in is for the welfare of the entire mankind. This knowledge also helps the human beings to develop Scientific Outlook.

To get a feel of Vedic physical sciences, reference to a few hymns are given in the very beginning. The Sun never sets or rises and it is the earth, which rotates (Sama Veda121). The gravitational effect of solar system makes the earth stable (R.V.1-103-2, 1-115-4 and 5-81-2). The subtle axle of the earth does not get rusted and the earth continues to revolve on its axle (R.V. 1-164-29). The science of Time and its subtle nature is described in (R.V.1-92-12 and 1-95-8). The need to study the properties of water, air and fire for discovering and manufacturing aircrafts, ships and other vehicles capable of moving in the firmament, land and water are mentioned in Rig Veda 1-3-1,2, 1-34-1, 1-140-1 and many other hymns.

Physical sciences relating to agriculture, medicine, astronomy mathematics particularly algebra, toxicology etc. are described in R.V.1-71-9, 4-57-5, Sama Veda 121 and many other hymns/riks.

For a better appreciation of Vedic science, a few terms used in the original Vedic bhasha (language) as contained in the mantras/riks are mentioned. Viman diye neshu for vehicles like aircrafts (RV 1-34-1, 9 and 1-85-7). Vaj gatau- very high-speed vehicles in the air (R.V 6-60-12). Rekha di ganit vidys vigyaya- the science of Algebra (R.V 1-19-1). Surya Vidyau tau- knowledge of the Sun and electricity. Indr-agani- power, energy and electricity (R.V 6-60-12, 13), krishna garbha- knower of Algebra (R.V 6-75-2). Vidyamadi bha vidyut vidyante yashate- in which electric telegraph wires have been arranged (R.V 1-88-1).

Many other terms and words relating to physical sciences can be found in these hymns like kanu, anu, bhutas, maha bhutas, tatva, maha tatva etc., The other terms have been used like Ratha for vehicles moving in the firmament and middle region, on the surface of the earth and over the water, ashvinau for scientists, anu and kanu for gross and subtle atoms, tan matras for sub atomic particles sponda for sound etc. Few other words are amritasya nidhi – ambrosia (R.V. 1-186-3), Brahamand pinda i.e macrocosm and microcosm. In Yajur Veda 18-24 and 25 many terms relating to addition, subtraction, division, square, cube, square root, and cube root have been used. Yajur Veda 18-22 and R.V. 6-22-2 also refer to certain other terms of the physical sciences.

In the Vedas scientists are described as men and women of absolute self-control, truthful with scientific outlook and destroyers of miseries (R.V., 1-3-4). With the help of these scientists one could travel far on the earth and also in the sky through conveyances, which run and touch the middle region (R.V., 1-3-1, 6-22-2 and 1-22-2).

Such scientists from both the sexes go across to distance places quickly like the mind and electricity (R.V., 1-71-9). In this hymn aircrafts and even space ships are hinted. These ashvinaus should be well versed in Physics, agricultural sciences (R.V. 4-57-5), medical sciences (R.V. 5-74-3), astronomy (S.V. 121) and other sciences.

There is a mention of infrared rays, study of Algebra (Rekha di ganit vidya), sound as a medium of knowledge for various sciences, diseases like bile, cough, jaundice and others and their treatment etc. The relevant hymns in this regard are in Rig-Veda 1-185-2, 1-12-1, 2, 1-22-1 to 4, 1-2-3, 1-95-1, 1-101-1 and many other.

Our democracy is fast drifting toward elected Oligarchy

Subject: Are we fast drifting toward rudderless perverted form of Democracy known as Elected Oligarchy of filthy rich through manipulated Voters lists and purchased Vote Bank.

(A).
For any prosperous Secular Democratic state three indictors need to be evaluated
1. Degree of interference by the state in religious affairs
2. How Vigilant are the Citizens?
3. Degree of strong and effective Local governments

(B)

After Six decades of Independence of India

All the three indicators are nearly non-existent in Secular Democracy of India
Taking full advantage of insensitivity of citizens both Central and State governments openly interfere in religious affairs for their vote banks. Umpteen examples can be cited.

2. Insensitivity, lack of will, culture of silence and feudal mai-baap culture continue amongst the sovereign citizens even after six decades particularly in urban areas. Urban elites openly employ illegal migrants (nearly 20 millions) for their domestic help, in shops, factories, farm houses etc endangering security of their own country.

3. Even the Amendment numbers 73 and 74 to the Constitution of India confirm ’Our local governments have become weak and ineffective” Need to make these strong and vibrant was accepted by Parliament in 1991 BUT owing to insensitivity of citizens amendments have not been implemented even after 18 years of approval by Parliament.

Have we got social, political, economic freedom (Swaraj) which is our birth right in democracy?
Soon after Independence the concept of Swaraj was thrown in the dustbin, by Socialist Pt J.L Nehru and other leaders enamored by the then Soviet model and they determined to banish poverty. We were shackled for decades through license-permit inspector raj.
They killed export oriented international trade and created a cocoon of self sufficiency which led to sudden rise of corrupt practices and India remained mired in poverty. With a view to control corruption and hang the corrupt people from the nearest pole, Pt. Nehru and other golden hearted leaders made India the land of thousands of controls. Those who failed to become Inspectors to monitor the controls to become filthy rich in a very short time went to IAS and other Central Services.

Without any basic knowledge of business these Inspectors and IAS officers started rendering commercial advices with vested interest to businessmen. Corruption spread in all areas including, education, religion, spiritual institutions and sudden mushroom growth of dealers of hope was visible. It still continues.

Entrepreneurs were forbidden to start a business without a license which involved over the table and also under the table Fee. Golden hearted Socialists were convinced that prosperity would be best achieved when nobody had to do anything except what they were told to do. Inspector raj was to protect you from foreign capitalists and predators. They were enamored by Soviet model which crumbled like a house of cards in early 1990’s. These golden hearted leaders prospered and put their filthy lucre in Swiss banks fearing crumbling of their Indian model.

All social welfare indices like literacy, infant mortality, life expectancy, poverty and good governance etc became the worst in India compared to all other Asian and world democratic states. Indian Bureaucracy is now rated the worst in Asia. Several lakhs crores Rupees leaking subsidies have ensured that poverty should remain as fixed purchased vote bank. These golden hearted netas found wonderful method of siphoning off several thousands crores of filthy lucre in the name of Poverty Alleviation. Social justice has become a dream in India
.
All possible methods have been devised to ensure fixed/purchased vote banks, manipulation of voter’s lists, keeping local governments weak and ineffective, provide reservations/subsidies on religious basis to minorities and keep control on temples of majority religion in Secular India
.

Need of the Hour for our survival and welfare.
Assertive social will of people to force government to do right job. Develop healthy community life through effective local governments and create Society that Cares and Shares.
Above all the sovereign citizens to Rise and perform their vigilant duties. “Eternal Vigilance is the Price of liberty.”

Kindly feel free to improve these thoughts for the welfare of our present and future generations. Remaining silent is the greatest sin in democracy as the silence of citizens is the major cause of Democracy drifting toward Oligarchy and later to Mobocracy and even Theocracy of fanatics.

With kind regards

Words Recoil to Describe Supreme Reality Brahman.

It is high time the noble Vedic Teachings and Guidelines reach each and every House/Home of the seekers of Vedic Knowledge to save mankind from self destruction.

The Supreme Reality "resides in a timeless dimension beyond this material world" as described in Vedas

In the Vedas the Universal God (Brahman) is formless, ineffable (nirguna) and Unmoved Mover. As Sankracharya says “ To describe Brahman even the words recoil.” We all once resided with Him in the supreme abode of PEACE.

God only incarnates to free mankind  from the chains of attachment and ignorance.
However, based on the Vedic metaphysics whatever description of God is given, it can at best be a glimpse of His omnipresence, omniscience and omnipotence.  He makes Himself felt whether as Adrsta – unseen cosmic power or the Supreme Reality as impersonal God. It is mainly because human senses and reason cannot analyze Him.

Rig-Veda 1-164-46 and Y.V 32-1 clearly mention that God is “One”; wise men call Brahman by different names. The souls in all human beings are the subtle particles (ansh) of the same Supreme Soul- Paramatma.

Since the entire cosmos and universe both visible and invisible continues to expand and is described as Brahamand so the Vedic metaphysicists and wise sages (rsis and munnies) found an appropriate epithet for the nameless God as Brahman.  In the Rig Veda He is also mentioned as Vishnu- one who spread in Viswa. In Yajur and Atharva Vedas epithets for God are mentioned as Shiva, Shankar Brahma and Shambhu.

Upanishads describe Nirguna Brahma- the ineffable God as, “Whole is that, whole too is this and from the whole, whole cometh and take whole, yet whole remains."

A few Vedic hymns can be mentioned for proper understanding of Nirguna Brahma who is the Universal God.
Rig Veda 6-15-13, 14 mentions that He is a pure illuminator, unifier, remover of all miseries, commands all to observe non-violence and other rules of righteousness, which are a-priori principles beyond any sense experiences.

Rig-Veda 6-47-18 says that for each form, He is the Model. It is His Forms that are to be seen everywhere, in spiritual and material things. His Spirit exists in all animate and inanimate life/things but is manifest in the human beings where God dwells in their hearts (Sama Veda 860). A similar description that He dwells in the human hearts is also there in Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bahgavatam.  Rig Veda 1-9-5 and 6 mentions that God is the Lord of knowledge, infinite wisdom and material wealth. He pervades the matter and the whole space (A.V.19-20-2). Hence matter is not inert and has unsuspected vitality.

All the four Vedas describe that He and His cosmic laws (Rta) are the same. Those who follow His laws and commandments can realise Him in one birth. He is unborn (ajo) and incarnation of God as a human being is not visualised (Y.V.34-53, 40-8 and A.V. 10-23-4). He lives within you and you live within Him as one of His tiny living cells.

Nevertheless, the highest concept of divine mercy is reached that HE permits His children all things to be said about Him even if you do not believe in Him. Thus, toleration is an important teaching of Vedic metaphysics. Vedic hymns clearly mention that He is at your disposal but on His terms and not your terms. He expects you not to disturb violently His Design of the earth and the universe.

Every thing belongs to Him, we use it only temporarily, whether it is food, air, water and He expects all of us not to over use these (Sama Veda 274). We should keep wealth and all material possessions only for our preservation lest we become exploiters by taking away some one else’s share. Sama Veda 274 clearly advises need-based living.

According to Rig Veda 10-90-13 to 17, the entire universe is His body. Sun and Moon are His eyes, Earth is His feet and Heaven is His head. Our eyes can see 1/4th of Brahamand (entire cosmos within and beyond visual range). He acts by the necessity of His nature. His decrees are eternal truths and with dedicated and transcendental research, all these truths can be found out for the welfare of self, society and mankind

Yajur Veda 40-5 tells us that He is within the entire universe and surrounds it externally. For those who want to realise Him, they have to follow the path of moderation, righteousness and cosmic laws of necessity (Rta), which are permanent truths and His Commandments. Kena Upanishad 2-5 mentions that God can be realised in one life. If you do not realise in one life, you are a great loser.

The most beautiful description of Brahma is given in the Vedantic School of Indian philosophy, based on Upanishads. There was neither being nor not being, neither vayu (air) nor akash (ether) which is beyond…neither death nor immortality existed, no distinction was yet between day and night, darkness was first concealed in darkness and all this was indiscriminate chaos. In that stage of shuniya (cosmic void), apart from that nothing was there whatsoever. It was when desire as the perennial germ of the mind arose for the first time and the entire cosmos was born out of cosmic Golden Egg (Hiranya garbha). The One, which was covered by cosmic Void (shuniya), was manifested through the light of Tapas (spiritual fire) (R.V X-129-1 to 3).

Thus the One Lord of all that moves and that is fixed, of what walks, what flies became the Lord of all this multiform creation (R.V. III-54-8).

The cosmic Word OM becomes the raft of knowledge. According to Yajur Veda XL-17, this word OM is Brahma Itself. "OM Khamma Brahma"- OM Thy name is Brahma. Through this Word, He not only created Prakrti and Universe but also protects the same with the divine energy coming out of Shabad Brahma. This cosmic word OM is from the root Ava (to protect).

His all Forms are supreme in design and beauty. As He pervades every where and all material objects are His manifestations, so in this phenomenal world, we can see Him through many fordnms like the Sun, Moon, mountains, sea and even human beings etc., but He remains Formless. Thus His forms are His creative art Maya (R.V. VI-45-16, VI-47-18. S.V. 1710 and A.V. VI- 36-3). As God’s attributes are infinite being ineffable, the hymns at best only give glimpses of His attributes.

Those who believe in one formless and ineffable God, invariably follow the philosophy of Vedic Iddm Nan Mam- nothing for self all for society.

The believers of One God are invariably transparent and follow the path of truth and non-violence in thought and action.

It is thus quite apparent for the entire mankind that movement is generally towards pluralism, animism, fanaticism, fundamentalism, gurudom, kingdom of priests and extreme materialism. It is for the mankind to decide to live without His divine guidance owing to the vehement effect of Maya- a huge cosmic saw with sharp teeth OR to pass through the gap between these teeth and seek the only One Supreme Realty and remain under His divine guidance by following His commandments and laws. All the main scriptures of major religions have confirmed based on transcendental research that He is pure love, merciful, benevolent and perfect knowledge. Knowing Him is bliss and not knowing Him is ignorance and misery.

Vedic Metaphysics reached WEST through Plato

I like to think someone will trace how the deepest thinking of India made its way to Greece and from there to the philosophy of our times in Europe. (John Archibald Wheeler- eminent scientist)
Metaphysics of Plato is Vedas Retold in the West
Subject: the influence of Vedic “rsis and munnies” on PLATO
Let noble thoughts come to us from all sides. (Rig Veda)
Dear seekers of Vedic knowledge,
The metaphysics of Socrates and Plato influenced so much the Western social and spiritual thought and brought enlightenment to the West that today WEST describes “Plato as philosophy and philosophy as Plato.” We the followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma in India seem to have forgotten that that source of his writings and philosophy was Vedic metaphysics. Before Plato, Pythagoras went from Samos (Greece) to land of Ganga to learn Geometry. He would not have gone such a long and strange journey had the reputation of Brahmin’s (Vedic) science not been long established in Europe. (Francois. M. Voltaire).
Plato left Athens for about one decade and visited Prasava (Persia), Ariana (Iran) and North West part of the then India-land of Aryans. He seems to have discussed a number of metaphysical concepts with the then Vedic Rsis and Munnies. On his return to Athens, he propagated those thoughts without making any reference to Vedic rsis and munnies. However, the influence of Vedic metaphysics is clearly visible in Plato’s writings/books.
Like the Vedic concept of moderation and Iddm nan mam (enlightened liberalism) Plato mentions in his Laws (174-f) and also in Utopia that in an Ideal state the range of economic disparities should be within 1:16. If the range of disparity increases marginally, the state is less ideal. However, if it increases considerably, the state is either a Democracy or an Oligarchy. The rulers in both tend to be tyrannical, corrupt, and hypocritical.
In his metaphysics, Plato says that the soul of virtuous people becomes lighter and goes toward heaven by moving upward after death and that of the non-virtuous, being heavier, it stays near the earth and is the cause of rebirth. On rebirth, people may be born in one of the nine kinds of families professing different faiths, religions, as well as in the different regions of the earth. Plato thus becomes one of the few ancient Western philosophers who gave a perfect philosophical theory on secularism and universal brotherhood which in the East Vedic rsis and munnies had already conveyed through Vedas.
In an ideal state, which he described as Republic, divine guidance is the maximum and in Tyranny it reaches its minimum and world dissolution (Vedic Pralaya) comes when that divine guidance is totally withdrawn. Like Vedic metaphysics Plato confirms that life in this vast turbulent ocean of matter- the material world is an illusion of comfort (Vedic Maya) and described the gross world as a phenomenal world. Plato held largely similar views like Vedic Rta (Laws of Nature) in his theory of Forms and Ideas. A few other glimpses of Vedic metaphysics can also seen in Plato’s writings relating to divinity in the noble vocations, social classes, education system extending up to 48 years, value system and need based living, absolute nature of right and wrong and many other concepts. Like Vedas he mentioned worst thing about corruption is that it distorts the concept of knowledge. He must have learnt about the ideal philosopher king Janaka of Bhagavad-Gita assisted by Rishi Yajnvalkya and Rsika Gargi and developed the theory of “philosopher kings” for his Republic. His concept of economics and global trade has great resemblance to Vedic economics and global trade.
While Plato propagated the Vedic concept of scientific temper, his disciple Aristotle spread the message of Physical Sciences of matter with unsuspected vitality without referring to Vedas. Later many of these thoughts are found in the metaphysics of Saint Aquinas, Augustine, Immanuel Kant and many others including some scientists like Newton, Einstein etc.
Is it not surprising that seekers of Vedic knowledge can get PhD Degree in Vedas in USA- the bastion of secularism and a few other Western countries but not in secular India? Even the former Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan Supreme Court Mr. Mohd Ramde Khalilee when he met me about two years ago confirmed that he was a seeker of Vedic knowledge as it originated largely in the then North West India now in Pakistan. Lately an e-mail has been sent to a large number of people by an American Christian “Mike” who has done PhD in Vedic metaphysics. The e-mail says if the world is to be saved from self destruction follow Vedic eternal spiritual science – Sanatan Dharma. Somewhat similar thoughts earlier the great German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer had expressed about Upanishads about two hundred years ago.
Considering the great importance of Vedic metaphysics for the welfare of mankind and Sanatan Dharma (Vedic eternal religion), after studying the metaphysical (Upanishadic) part of four Vedas, I have written the book “Glimpses of Vedic Metaphysics” as a commoner and for the common people who are seekers of Vedic knowledge. It is not a book on Vedic literature, history or language but contains Vedic guidelines, teachings and thoughts on material, spiritual and divine aspects of human life. The seekers of Vedic knowledge can read and even take print at no cost on website http://www.sabhlokcity.com/metaphysics . Also the book can be accessed through google.com, yahoo.com, lulu.com. Kindly render divine noble service and forward this Website to other seekers of Vedic knowledge and strengthen Vedic eternal religion. Suggestions for any improvement in the book conforming strictly to Vedas are most welcome. Within my limitation of knowledge I do try to update the book periodically.
It is high time we establish a University in India where through Vedic studies students could get post graduate and PhD degrees and they strengthen Vedic Sanatan Dharma (eternal religion) in India and abroad.
With kind regards,
Yours spiritual brother,
Prem Sabhlok
P.S
A few more Western thoughts about Vedas.
Great India (through Veda) is the origin of everything intellect, religion and politics and even Greek Heritage seems pale in comparison (Frederich Von Schlegel) German philosopher.
India has created a special momentum in the world history as the country to search for Knowledge. (Friedrich Hegel)
… Revive Vedas and conquer the conquerors through Vedic knowledge without fighting any War. Each follower of Sanatan Dharma needs to become Paramjot- carriers of divine Vedic light- knowledge.
Followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma take the above message as wakeup call and save mankind from self destruction. Evil forces are joining together to destroy the eternal religion Sanatan Dharma.

It is High Time I.A.S Bureaucrats to do Introspection

Subject: It is High time for IAS officers to do introspection

Reference: Civil Servants have to shift from being controllers to facilitators and from being providers to enablers. (Prime Minister of India- April 2007)

Causes of various symptoms we see today lie deep in the governance system which has become so low that it can not cope with even minor issues like civic amenities forget about complexities of Law and Order, Security, Finance, Economic Sickness (Depression) etc.

Everything we see in India is an indication of their poor performance. Partly it could be attributed to sycophancy of political leaders’ ambivalent personality but largely it is due to their total non accountability and strange delight they take as a holder of little authority. The bureaucrats (IAS officers) who implement are mainly for the mess being created in urban and rural areas by grossly ignoring even the Constitution of India. IAS bureaucrats are now becoming paternalistic, cautious, negative and disrespectful to “WE” the sovereign People of India.

There is an urgent need for shock therapy before India is declared as a Failed State. World Development Report 2009 based on analysis made by Think Tank of (Fund for Peace) on 12 main indicators has rated India as 78th amongst the sustainability of the states i.e. very close to nearly Failed States like Mynmar (Burma), Bangladesh and Pakistan (rating 90 and above).
Bell has started ringing louder now. Before it makes us deaf please wake up. Think Globally Act Locally.

Views of some eminent people regarding IAS Officers are given below

(A) Prof R.K Mishra Dir of Inst of Public Enterprise says,
IAS Officers project themselves expert on every thing, their concern and focus on their own career is very high, are self opinionated, power hungry, shrewd and manipulative, procedure and rule focused, arrogant, inaccessible, judgmental, critical of others by concentrating minor details of others. They are very low on positive traits such as commitment to organization, trustworthy, risk taking, contentiousness, innovative ness and creativity. They are the lowest visionaries and considered to be no change agents and very poor at public policy, analysis and design.

(B) Fungal Growth of Departments
They have a tendency to create more Secretary level posts in the Centre and State governments. In 1774 there were 3 Secys, 4 in 1833 for Home. Defence, Finance and Foreign, 10 in 1919, 18 immediately after 1947, 54 Deptts in 1978, 70 in 1993. Then the practice of a number of Secretaries in some deptts started like Finance, Defence, Home etc. Thus there are now about 100 Secretaries in the Center and more than that in State governments. Total number of secretary level posts manned by IAS are far more than annual intake of direct IAS officers. Thus almost 100 % IAS officers reach this level when in other services it is less than 10 percent and for direct officers in Defence Services about 2%.

They know very well it suits political Leaders also to create more departments, more Districts, Division etc. Thus the expansion game goes on but with no Accountability and No compulsion to perform.

(C) This model was bequeathed to us by the British and was worth at one time. It has now become fetid upon coming in contact with our sectarian caste based and geocentric passions. In this rotting model no dynamism is left and has started stinking. In view of articles 308 -323 of the Constitution of India particularly 312, it is cumbersome to remove IAS officer from service and hence these jobs have become sinecure.

(D) To say it is sloppy, sluggish, and inefficient and therefore ineffective is underestimate. It is now giving the impression of functioning as inert, arbitrary, heavy handed often corrupt un-coordinated monolith (eminent Economist Pranab Burdhan). (page 164). IAS officers do not posses the quality of leadership skills, extensive specialist policy knowledge but also impeccable personal integrity. There self interest is not aligned to public self interest.

(E) India’s poverty is because of IAS officers and their ways” (Brezenski) he wrote more than a decade ago.
(F) IAS officers should master new technologies and new style of functioning and should become Agent of Change. (Prime Minister Manmohan Singh)

It is high time sovereign citizens of India should critically examine whether this service should continue or get modified by shedding its feudal aristocracy to suit our democracy or wound up before more harm is done to the country and India is declared as failed State.

Incidentally this kind of Administrative Service based on outdated Colonial Model, appointments/posts like SDM, DC, Collector, DRDA, Commissioner etc; no where exist in the developed democracies of the world as it is an outdated/obsolete concept.

With regards,
Prem Sabhlok

P.S
An e-book on the science of good governance by an Ex IAS officer having 18 years administrative experience in India and 9 years in Australia is now available on Website http://bfn.sabhlokcity.com
The book is an eye opener for the mess IAS officers have created lately.

Purpose of Human Birth as described in Vedas

Study of Vedas is the noblest Virtue (Bhagavad-Gita)
Omkar Veda Nirmayi (God Revealed Vedas (Guru Nanak Dev Ji)
Vedas are the basis of ultimate Truth, Dharma, Spiritual Sciences and Bhartia culture.
“Rtam, Satyam, Dharmmam” Rig Veda tells us that Cosmic laws (Rta) of social, moral and physical order are eternal and permanent truths (Satyam) and following these Laws (Rta) is Vedic Sanatam Dharma –eternal religion
Dear Spiritual Brothers and Sisters,
Subjects: 1 Heritage Status to Rig Veda by UNESCO
2. Purpose of Human Birth- as described in Vedas
Subject1: Heritage Status accorded to Rig Veda
A number of doubts have been raised by many individuals about the utility of religion. They feel that unless religion is able to define ideal life, highest virtue, goodness, gentleness, perfect value system etc, otherwise its utility is suspect. Briefly its spirituality should be based on spiritual science and NOT materialistic commercial spiritualism.
Under the vehement influence of materialism which gives an illusion of comfort (effect of dazzling golden disc created by MAYA- the cosmic delusion) many organized religions have deviated/drifted from their original sources. For illustration Vedas are now utilized as spiritual adhesive by a very large majority.of followers of Sanatan Dharma.
It is an historical fact that the Vedic truths have been challenged; criticized and even Vedic metaphysicists (rsis and munnies) were abused by Charvakaas, but Vedic truths never proved wrong. The long history of about 5,000 years is a clear indicator that the Vedas, which are the acme of human thought, should be studied with an open mind and without any bias. Bhagavad-Gita describes the study of the Vedas as the highest virtue (16-1 to 3). Adi Grantha sahib says “Asankh Grantha mukhi Veda path”. (There are innumerable scriptures but study of Vedas is supreme). Vedic Sanatan Dharma is entirely based on spiritual science.
The path finders of yore described their metaphysics when Iron Age (Kali Yuga) had already started. As such Vedic Metaphysics is most relevant to the present age when Kaliyuga is at its peak. The Vedic metaphysics not only help us to find our roots, but also answers hundreds of our doubts which most of us have. Why and how this world was created? Who am I? Where did I come from and were shall I go? Why I am here? Do I come back or just become manure for the earth? What is an ideal way of life? Think of any material, spiritual or philosophical question, the Vedas has answers to all such questions. The ancient wise sages, who did speculative transcendental research to find permanent truths, came to the conclusion that any effort to change or modify them will rebound. Such truths are a-priori, being revealed directly from the immortal human soul. Only empirical knowledge based on sense experience like physical and social sciences gets modified with the passage of time.
The hierarchical and organized religions of today are not able to define the ideal life, highest virtue, goodness, gentleness and many other noble concepts. The treasure of such a noble knowledge is freely available in the Vedas. The philosophy contained in the Vedas can certainly help in taking out the cobwebs created by various religions through mythology, unscientific rituals, ostentatious and proxy worship, blind faith and hallucination apart from certain weeds of the mind, like destructive, revengeful, selfish and other wild thoughts. Perhaps considering their utility to mankind UNESCO has since accorded the status of “Heritage” to RIG VEDA.
Subject 2.
In this phenomenal world of a vast turbulent sea of matter a number of views are prevalent about the Purpose of Life and Human Birth
To know the purpose of human life an effort was made to study Rig Veda which has been accorded the status of world Heritage by UNESCO. According to Vedas (RV 1-24-1, 4-33-11, 1-79-1) the purpose of human birth is to assist the Supreme Architect (Vishwakarma) in the maintenance of social, moral and physical order so that the entire mankind becomes divine bureaucracy of God to ensure implementation and maintenance of His Grand wondrous Design. The Cosmic laws of Nature (Rta) are formidable and despotic in their operation and even God Himself having created obeys these laws sternly. Truthful search of these laws and obeying Rta is the greatest service to God.
Vedas even confirm that by following Rta and understanding the purpose of Human Birth, one can attain Moksha (Bliss) in one birth. By not attaining Moksha human beings are the losers.
Thus the Purpose of life is to fulfill the divine mission of God and Prakrti (divine Nature) by resorting to welfare activities for the entire mankind (Vishwa Kutumbkam- the Global Family of our formless and ineffable God) and all animate and inanimate life. It only proves that selfless social work on the path of Rta is the only divine work.
Apart from what Vedas say about the Purpose of Human Birth, many other Vedic concepts regarding Bliss, Good, Charity, Love, Koshas, Enlightened Liberalism, harmonized divine, spiritual and material Knowledge (Jnan), Scientific Temper, Vedic Economics, Ramayana and Mahabharata are Vedas re-told and many others have been described in Glimpses of Vedic Metaphysics. The book is available on the Internet for on-line reading/taking print free of cost and can be accessed through Search Engines of Google.com/Yahoo.com/ Lulu.com

Vedas at your doorstep- bring them in with respect– Vedic Supreme Reality

“The Vedas still represent eternal Truths in the Purest Form ever written”
Paul William Roberts –Oxford University Professor
VEDAS are meant to organize the society harmoniously of the followers of Sanatan Dharma and strictly prohibits individual gains in the pursuit of Dharma.
RV 1-97-8 has a Prayer to Manyu deva and Agni deva on WRATH “give us power not to become insensitive and silent spectators to social and moral evils and bestow us necessary wrath to fight against these evils”.

“O, God give me wrath against social criminals and non divine people (avarnas) and wake me up from the deep slumber of insensitivity.” Rig Veda

“OM Khamm Brahma” OM Thy name is God who is “Ek OM kar”- the only One God, Wise men describe Thee by many different names, including Vishwakarma- the Great Architect of the Universe..
Being Thy children let us all become Thy divine bureaucracy and help Thy Grand wondrous Design by becoming Paramjot- Carriers of divine and noble knowledge contained in Vedas
Dear Spiritual Brothers and Sisters,
Subject: Brief Description of the Supreme Reality in Vedas.
A number of hymns in the Vedas describe God in details. A few hymns can be mentioned for proper understanding of Nirguna Brahma who is the Universal God. Rig Veda 6-15-13 and 14 mentions that He is a pure illuminator, unifier and remover of all miseries, commands all to observe non-violence and other rules of righteousness, which are a-priori principles beyond any sense experience.
Rig-Veda 6-47-18 says that for each form, He is the Model. It is His Forms that are to be seen everywhere, in spiritual and material things. He exists in all animate and inanimate life/things but He is manifest in the human beings where He dwells in their hearts (Sama Veda 860). A similar description that He dwells in the human hearts is also there in Bhagavad-Gita, Srimad Bahgavatam and many other scriptures.
Rig Veda 1-9-5, 6 mentions, “He is the Lord of knowledge, infinite wisdom and material wealth”. He pervades the matter and the whole space (A.V.19-20-2). All the four Vedas describe that Thee and Thy laws (Rta) are the same. Those who follow His laws and commandments can realize Him in one birth. He is unborn (ajo) and incarnation of God as a human being is not visualized (Y.V.34-53, 40-8 and A.V. 10-23-4). He lives within you and you live within Him as one of His tiny living cells. .
The Vedic metaphysics contained in Upanishads tell us that He has no demand for material offerings, donations, blind, proxy and ostentatious worship but wants all the human beings to follow His laws (Rta) of social, moral and physical order and assist him in the maintenance of His Grand wondrous Design. Vedas tell us that all evils, corruption, bribery, naked selfishness and material desires are more rampant with people who do not follow His laws (Rta). Majority of such persons even create pollution of all kinds, environmental hazards, social and economic tensions in society and thus knowingly or unwittingly go against His laws and tend to create social, moral and physical disorder.
Vedas advise open discussions on religion, ethics, morality, divinity, soul, spirit and Prakrti in an assembly where all individuals are advised to participate. This august body in the Vedas is described as Vidhta. Being ineffable, He does not want the human beings to praise Him all the time about His attributes. As Sankracharya said, “even the words recoil to describe Him”. Categories, quantity, quality, colour and words cannot explain Him. Thus Vedas give great importance that we should know and understand Brahman.
He is an impersonal God, impartial and Unmoved Mover but moves the universe in a wondrous design. There are a number of hymns relating to Rta-laws of God, which Brahman observes and follows Himself sternly. He never breaks them and this result in equilibrium in the entire universe. There is a mention that even animals, birds, plants as well as all inanimate things follow these laws. The more you understand and love Him, the more you go away from ostentatious, blind and proxy worship of gods. The inert matter starts disappearing and you start realising that all human beings are spiritual brothers and sisters. Vedic God has only blessings and mercy for all His creation and no curse for His creatures. If an individual is leading a miserable life of stress, it is his/her own creation as the individuals are their own greatest friends and their own enemies.
This brief description is from Chapter 8 of “Glimpses of Vedic Metaphysics” available on Internet for on-line reading and even taking print at no-cost. The book is accessible through google.com or Yahoo.com or lulu.com as well as Website http://www.sabhlokcity.com/metaphysics/.

As you sow so shall you reap- Vedic eternal Truth- Parapsychological research by Dr Ian Stevenson

Subject: As you sow so shall you reap- Vedic eternal Truth- Parapsychological research by Dr Ian Stevenson

While many scriptural and metaphysical truths do indicate that there is a transmigration of soul and rebirth not necessarily in the same religion or even country or region, Yajur Veda 3-54,55 tells us that the purpose behind this concept- rather truth is to create love for the entire mankind and to ensure that the human beings follow righteous path. .

If we analyze in-depth this Vedic concept of rebirth and transmigration of soul, it would mean that a person could be reborn with the same soul but different gross body in his / her next birth in any religion, region and country of the entire world. He could also be born as male or female as soul has no sex or any caste, creed or cult. It could also mean that in our earlier births and previous lives we could have been Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists or even  Brahamin, Kshatriya,Vaish or Shudras, male or female and even non divine vritras, avarnas etc. Belief in this divine concept will make a person love the entire mankind. A firm belief can lead to harmony, cooperation, love, respect and equality amongst  all religions, sexes, caste, creed etc.

The deeds of the entire life and the impressions those deeds created to the manifested soul before leaving the body follow the individual in the next birth.

Tao Te Ching appears more like a Vedic rsi or seer when he says, " knowing others is wisdom, knowing self is enlightenment. Seek within and know thy self". How closely he resembles Socrates?

Sankracharya has explained the concept of transmigration of soul for human beings as the continuous movement of the wheel. According to him actions both enjoined and prohibited by scriptures bring about one's connection with the body. Whenever the body performs any action, pleasure and pain follow resulting in attraction or repulsion, from which further action follows relating to love or hatred. The ignorant person having only material and intellectual knowledge considers both the merits and demerits of such actions. This merit and demerit is followed similarly by connection with body and the "wheel of sansara" continues. The individuals trapped in this "wheel" with continuous motion do not know where to stop an action. The sense of discrimination between right or wrong, good or bad, virtue and evil gets blurred. Transmigratory existence is thus going on continuously for ever like a moving wheel and so the human Karma, thoughts and desires. Only after getting Vedic knowledge what he describes as Vidya, one can get out of this wheel.

Parapsychological Research
Hindus by and large accept reincarnation and transmigration of soul as all their scriptures from Vedas to Tantras refer to these. Inspite of this many Hindus still do not know that in their next birth a Hindu could be reborn in the families of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhist or other religions and a male could be reborn as female and vice versa. Also in their previous births/ lives they could have been belonging to other religions, sex, region or country. There are a large number of recorded and unrecorded cases of small children mostly between the ages of 3 to 5 years remembering their previous births. Dr Ian Stevenson of the Virginia University and a renowned para psychologist is of the firm opinion that rebirth is a serious possibility. Many others having belief in occult, arcane and mysticism agree with such findings.

Dr Stevenson studied a few hundred cases out of 2700 brought to his notice. These cases relate to India, Burma, Pakistan, West Asia, Africa, Europe and America. Most of the children who knew their previous births were below six years. His study showed that after six years the memory of previous birth starts fading. In one case researched by an occult scientist, police could solve a murder mystery as the child in his new birth remembered all the events leading to murder and finally the murderer was arrested and punished after a few years of the crime.

One child of a Sikh family of Peshawar (now in Pakistan) at the age of three years suddenly started insisting to go to Afghanistan where he said that his wife and children lived. The parents ignored it as hallucination and did not take him to Afghanistan. In 1947 when Pakistan was created out of Indian Territory, the parents shifted to Ambala City. The child still insisted to see his wife and children of his previous birth. He gave full details of location of the house, articles lying in a particular almirah, name of his wife and children of his earlier birth. Though the child was never taken there, the facts were got verified by the parents and found to be mostly correct. After the age of about 5 years the child started forgetting all the memories of his previous birth.

After that his growth was just like a normal child and at young age he opted for a noble teaching profession.

Dr. Stevenson after studying a large number of cases had observed that most of the children who had memory of previous births had met with a violent death. He confirmed that he verified many such claims with the postmortem reports of the victim in his her previous birth. He also observed cases of sex changes and in Burma over 25% of the cases, the children claimed they belonged to the other sex in their previous births. However, he agreed that out of 2700 recorded cases many were hoax. He is of the opinion that number of such cases could be more as many families do not inform and the cases go unnoticed by the researchers. Many parents feel that more probing could affect the future life of their children who remember complete details of their previous life. Irrespective of Dr. Stevenson's study and research, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains have belief in reincarnation. However, Muslims, Christians and many others do not give any importance to this kind of para-psychological research, inspite of the fact that metaphysics of Socrates, Plato and Pythagorus did mention about the immortality of soul and reincarnation. Pythagorus claimed that he knew all his previous a number of births.
